(Top row, left) The badge given to a Nurse on graduation from a Nursing College.
(Top row, right) The badge viewed from the rear, showing name and Reg. Number.
(Top row, centre) A badge given by the Hospital itself, showing the number 158.
(Bottom row) Nurse's belt-buckle - the only permitted item of self-adornment.
These buckles are often silver; the design may be Victorian, Art Nouveau/Deco, etc.
This silver filigree example was almost certainly made in Sri Lanka (Ceylon).
The owner was born in Eire, where she qualified as a nurse in 1933. After further
training, she practised as a midwife in Glasgow for three years.
